The Angolan government is working to increase energy production, particularly in the south of the country. To this end, negotiations were advanced with the African Development Bank (ADB) and the Kingdom of Spain.

One of the projects, to be completed in three years, includes the construction of a 400 kilometers long high-voltage line (Huambo - Lubango), as well as the demining of the connection road, financed by the ADB at 300 million dollars. The Huambo/Matala link costs 100 million US dollars, while the Lubango/Namibe line is valued between 70 million and 80 million US dollars. The financing of this infrastructure is guaranteed and approved by the ADB, through an agreement signed with the Ministry of Finance, and is currently being consulted for the launch of the public tender. AFOMAT is also helping to finance this project. The Lubango/Namibe line benefits from financing approved by the Japan Cooperation Fund, while the Huambo/Matala line, which will bring energy to the Jamba mining region, is financed by the Kingdom of Spain
