According to data from the Department of Agriculture, the GDP of Morocco's agricultural sector recorded an average annual growth rate of 5.25% between 2008 and 2018, with a doubling of its contribution to points of overall economic growth.

The Green Morocco Plan has given a "real" momentum to the agricultural sector in Morocco. On the export side, their value has also doubled, going from 15.2 billion dirhams in 2008 to 36.3 billion dirhams in 2018. The Green Morocco Plan (PMV) has been a real catalyst for agricultural development. Concretely, the GDP of the sector recorded an average annual growth rate of 5.25% between 2008 and 2018, with a doubling of its contribution to points of overall economic growth, thus fulfilling its ambition to become an “engine of dynamic of national growth”, according to the results of this strategy. Ten years after its launch, this roadmap has repositioned agriculture as an engine of economic growth. The wealth created, measured in terms of GDPA, has thus doubled from 65 billion dirhams on the eve of the PMV to 125 billion in 2018. This development was twice as fast compared to the decade prior to the PMV (1997-2007) during which the average annual GDPA growth rate was only 2.5%. This dynamic has contributed on the one hand to improving the rate of coverage of imports by agricultural exports, which rose from 51% in 2008 to 68% in 2018, and on the other hand to reducing the deficit in the agricultural trade balance. by nearly 31% to go from 25.2 billion dirhams in 2008 to 17.4 billion dirhams in 2018.
