The mobile telecommunications company and Internet service provider in Namibia, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) announced on August 5, 2021, that it had commercially launched the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) communication technology. This is in the context of improving its internet services in the country.

VSAT provides mobile backbone services where it has no backhaul to serve mobile towers. "MTC's VSAT technology will enable customers in remote areas with little or no internet connectivity to have internet access and be able to communicate with colleagues, family and friends, as well as improve connectivity-dependent services. said the Namibia Stock Exchange listed company. For his part, Melvin Angula, Chief Commercial Officer of MTC, said, “VSAT connectivity continues to play a critical role in remote connectivity and site backhaul for MTC.”
