The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, chaired this July 6, 2021, a consultation between Cameroon and a delegation of 13 experts from the African Development Bank (AfDB). On the occasion, he announced that 43% of AfDB financing is invested in road infrastructure

With investments officially estimated at CFAF 1,340 billion until 2019, Cameroon is the largest beneficiary of AfDB financial assistance in Central Africa. According to the Autonomous Sinking Fund (CAA), the public debt manager, the ADB is also Cameroon's second largest financial partner at the multilateral level, after the World Bank. The current portfolio of this pan-African financial institution in the road sector in Cameroon represents 43% of its overall investments in the country. This represents, we learn, a length of more than 700 km under construction, rehabilitation or to be asphalted, and nearly 1,000 linear meters of engineering structures under construction or planned. The consultation meeting aimed to explore ways and means to improve the conduct of projects resulting from cooperation between Cameroon and the AfDB. In addition to the examination of certain road projects in progress in the country, the Cameroon-ADB meeting of this July 6, 2021 in Yaoundé made it possible to come back to certain obstacles, which often make it difficult to carry out certain projects. This concerns in particular the question of the maturity of the projects and the release of rights-of-way, because of the delays generally experienced in compensation.
