The Sonatel group has just significantly increased its expansion strategy in the sub-region. Last Friday, May 21, in Cotonou, the signing of a management agreement for the Beninese Digital Infrastructure Company (Sbin) was held.

The Senegalese telecommunications operator signed with Benin, Friday, May 21, in Cotonou, a management agreement for Sbin, thus concretizing the decision taken on March 24, to entrust the delegated management of this company to the Sonatel group. The objective entrusted to the Senegalese operator is to make it “quickly operational”. The two parties hailed a model of South-South cooperation and a "good example of African integration".

“It was important for us to choose not only an operator who knows the business and masters the subtleties relating to the development of a telecommunications and digital services company in our region, but also who has the best technological tools and services. And Sonatel's position as a top performer allowed us to be reassured that it could meet our requirements and embrace our ambitions,” explains Aurélie Adam Soulé Zoumarou, Beninese Minister for the Digital Economy and Digitization.

According to the Minister, the Government of Benin expects the team that will be put in place by Sonatel to position Sbin as an important player in the sector, to make it an accelerator of the country's digital transformation " We want, on the one hand, to revitalize the digital sector by bringing value to all the players, but also to make Cotonou a place of reference in Africa for technological innovations and in terms of digital uses", adds, for his part, Romuald Wadagni, Minister of Economy and Finance. Note that Sonatel aims to bring to Sbin all its expertise and dynamism in terms of innovation, operational excellence and development of the digital ecosystem.
