The implementation and monitoring of environmental safeguard instruments is one of the current priorities of the State of Côte d'Ivoire. Experts from the African Development Bank (AfDB) expressed on Thursday in Abidjan the institution's commitment to Côte d'Ivoire for better environmental protection.

The issue of environmental and social safeguards is an important part of the country's development. During a meeting in Abidjan, the AfDB Deputy Director General for the West Africa region, Joseph Martial Ribeiro, insisted on the implementation and monitoring of environmental safeguard instruments.He reiterated the commitment of the pan-African bank to support the development actions of Côte d'Ivoire.

The Ivorian Minister of Planning and Development, Nahoua Yeo, said that environmental and social safeguards issues are a strategic tool for both the AfDB and the Ivorian government.
