As part of the finalization of the appraisal of a sustainable land use program in Congo, CAFI is releasing a financial envelope of 45 million euros. This is to accompany and support the various milestones of the note of intent that the Congolese President, Denis Sassou N'Guesso, signed with French President Emmanuel Macron in October 2019, according to the director of the French Agency for International Development.According to the director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Congo, Lionel Cafferini, who made the announcement to Arlette Soudan-Nonault, Congolese Minister of Tourism and Environment.
This financial support concerns two phases of the land use program. In the first phase, the CAFI Fund has delegated resources to AFD in the amount of USD 15 million and AFD, on behalf of the French government, will mobilize 7 million euros in additional financing. The second phase is currently being appraised and is expected to mobilize US$15 to 25 million from the CAFI initiative, to which will be added 8 million euros in grant resources from the French government via AFD.
