Faced with the collapse of air transport – and therefore of on-board meal supplies, Servair turned to the African armies. The second quarter of 2020, marked by the start of the pandemic, was "terrible" for the company.

The French company, which is very active in the region (Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso), intends to diversify its services because it has suffered the full brunt of the consequences of the health crisis. Its deputy managing director for Africa, Marc Vatel, remains optimistic about the long-term prospects on the continent. “The activity will gradually recover”, he assures, anticipating a return to normal activity levels for 2023 or 2024.
The French company, a subsidiary of Gategroup, plans to supply food rations to the armies of the continent present on the battlefields. It is a question, assures Marc Vatel who announces this service for the end of the year 2021, to adapt for the military field the technology used to produce the menus of the astronauts of the Alpha mission left on the International Space Station, with the agreement of the European Space Agency.
