The Managing Director of the African Risk Capacity Group (ARC Group), has just completed an intense tour of West Africa, from Lomé to Abidjan, via Dakar and Banjul. The objective is to renew the annual commitments of all these countries in the insurance pool of the Group's insurance subsidiary.

“We have successfully concluded our consultations with West African Member States. At the end of our tour which took us to governments and financial institutions (BOAD and EBID among others), we are pleased to announce that the West African member states of the ARC have reaffirmed their commitments to our organization by signing their insurance policies and related work programs,” said Ibrahima Cheikh Diong in an interview with Financial Afrik.
States have registered to participate in Pool VIII for the 2021 planting season to secure critical agricultural production to achieve a disaster-resilient Africa.
At a time when African States are making financial inclusion a major objective, ARC is adjusting its range of products by including in its agenda, on the one hand, the increase of its intervention capacity, by raising more resources and, on the other hand, by broadening its areas of intervention towards the most vulnerable populations.
At the head of the African Union's Specialized Agency for exactly 7 months, Ibrahima Cheikh Diong intends to reposition the pan-African mutual fund for natural disaster coverage into a real development partner, which delivers expertise and supports Member States in preparing their responses to climate emergencies, epidemics and development issues.
