The exchanges revolved around the actions undertaken for the development of the digital economy in Cameroon.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (Minpostel) received a delegation from the National Defense College Nigeria. “Cameroon's digital economy and national development: an assessment” is the theme chosen for this meeting.
“Statistics show that Cameroon is the first in Central Africa in terms of e-commerce and the 10th in Africa. It is on this basis that our college is there to conduct a study, we will produce a report with some strategies and recommendations to our government which will also be provided to the Cameroonian government,” said Commodore Ao Olugbode, head of the Nigerian delegation.
According to him, this visit will contribute to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. “At our university, we have identified the fourth industrial revolution as a driving force. African continental free trade gives us a very unique opportunity to use the digital economy as a pathway to achieve the goals of this grand initiative,” he said.
The delegation also visited the Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana where a similar subject was discussed, in particular Electronic Commerce in Cameroon: issues and challenges.
