Uniwax employees again demonstrated peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, a short distance from the main entrance of the factory located in the Yopougon industrial zone. Compliance with CSR and an increase in salary in absolute terms and no longer in percentage terms are the two major demands of the company's employees.

“We went on strike after notice. We were received by the employers, managers of the uniwax company, on 11 and 12 February 2021. We have been informed, through a circular, of a salary increase. After a meeting between trade unionists and employers, it emerged that we should obtain a 2% increase in the general salary and 2% as merit according to the rating of each section head. This is not to the liking of workers, because this percentage represents nothing compared to the high cost of living. For a base salary of 100,000 FCFA, this increase is around 2,000 FCFA,” deplores Aka Anoh Aimé,

Thus, employees go on an unlimited strike until the salary is revised. “The minimum wage in this company is barely worth 100,000 CFA francs. An employee who has spent 40 years of service retires with 1 million or 800,000 CFA francs. The CNPS, the National Social Insurance Fund, collects nearly 26,000 or 20,000 as a pension.
