This Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in Abidjan-Cocody, Ernest Assamoi Anassé, first head of the Insurance Association of Côte d'Ivoire (Asa-Ci), outlines the missions, conditions of referrals and the reasons behind the creation of “Insurance Mediation”.
Established by Asa-Ci, “Insurance Mediation” aims to provide insured persons, victims and beneficiaries of insurance contracts with an out-of-court system for settling disputes between insured persons and insurers. One of its missions is to promote the amicable settlement of these disputes.
According to the Insurance Mediator, Assamoi Anassé, this body may hear an individual dispute between an insurance company and its client. The referral is free for the insured person. It must be in writing and must be accompanied by a precise and detailed description of the claim and available supporting documents.
However, if a dispute is the subject of judicial proceedings, the Ombudsman is not competent to examine it. “The Ombudsman delivers an opinion based on law and equity. He is required to strictly respect professional secrecy,” he explained.
To make its decision, the extrajudicial dispute resolution system for insured persons has 45 days
