.As part of the implementation of the Sahel Joint Programme in response to Covid-19, Conflict and Climate Change (SD3C) challenges, the State of Senegal and the specialized agency of the United Nations system are sealing a financing partnership.
According to Amadou Hott, Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, the program extends over a three-year period for the first phase (2021-2023). He pointed out that “the distribution of the basic costs of the project by component demonstrates a strong orientation of the program on increasing productivity, production and economic integration.”
The objective of this program is to strengthen the livelihoods of small producers, especially women and young people, living in cross-border areas. Ultimately, 11,000 agropastoral households, for around 110,000 people, 50% of whom are adult women and 30% of young people, will be affected.
The international financial institution has intervened in this West African country “on twenty projects/programmes affecting 667,643 households and co-financed for a total of 875.43 million US dollars, including 318.66 million
