The network is part of the Partners program which brings together three centers of excellence, the leading center of which is the African Center of Excellence for Mining and Mining Environment of the Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute (INP-HB).
“It is a cooperation of several centers of excellence financed by the World Bank to work on the questions of scientific research in order to set up data, a community of researchers, a community of knowledge which take into account the whole various social and industrial players in the mining world in West Africa”, explained the coordinator of the sustainable mining activities network, Patrice Eba.
It is through this collaboration to ensure and achieve the ideal represented by responsible mining because “this activity generates many harmful consequences such as the impact on the environment, on societies.
We are therefore in the process of addressing mining activity so that the various communities around the mining sites can benefit as much as possible while safeguarding their immediate environment,” he added.
This tool is financed by the French development agency (AFD), managed by the IRD (research and development institute) in conjunction with the various centres.
