These stores have been set up in 26 localities spread over the national territory, where agro-sylvo-pastoral and halieutic perimeters have been developed with a view to ensuring and guaranteeing food security. These are 10 warehouses with a capacity of 150 tons located in the sub-prefectures and 16 with 350 tons installed in the regional capitals.
This UEMOA support falls within the framework of the project “Studies and works for the development of 1000 ha of agro-sylvo-pastoral and halieutic perimeter”.
Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani expressed his satisfaction to the Union for this support which will enable Côte d'Ivoire to move from the stage of formulating the policy for the professionalization of actors in the rural agricultural world, to that of its implementation. concrete on the ground.
He noted the efforts made by the government, which released the necessary resources to equip all the stores with computer equipment (computer, printer), measuring and quality control equipment, as well as office equipment and other consumables, reiterating its ambition to have modern warehouses, with agents well trained in stock management and quality control techniques.
There are other commitments, in particular the projects of 1000 ha of agro-sylvo-pastoral and halieutic perimeter, the structuring of the rice sector and the corn sector for a total cost of 7.9 billion are financed by WAEMU in Ivory Coast.
The representative of the UEMOA Commission, Gustave Diasso praised the good cooperation between his institution and Côte d'Ivoire.
On behalf of the beneficiary professional organisations, the president of the Rice Interprofession, Pierre Zoro Bi, welcomed this donation, which will make it possible to reduce the hardship of tasks, improve product quality and significantly optimize income while reassuring the authorities of the proper use of the equipment.
