While producers did not fail to mark their satisfaction with the new cocoa price set at 1000 FCFA / Kg, their joy could be short-lived.

According to information from concordant sources, a dispute would oppose the Coffee-Cocoa Council (CCC) to the multinationals.

We learn that these firms would demand a "reduction" of the price applied to them by the Government because of the "slowdown" in world demand for beans which is being felt on international prices.

The multinationals would propose to the Council to lower the premium relating to the quality of the beans to a range of 20 to 50 pounds sterling per ton of beans, against a premium currently payable of 70 to 100 pounds sterling. A request to which the CCC has not yet responded and which is at the origin of the “impasse” in the sector.

According to the said sources, this unforeseen event could disrupt the campaign which started on October 1, 2020, because to these difficulties, relating to the drop in demand, would be added those of overproduction.

The reaction of the Coffee-Cocoa Council is now eagerly awaited in this affair relayed in recent days by several sources and whose silence from the State structure surprises more than one.
