APA-Dakar (Senegal) By Massamba Sall Lending interest rates applied by banks in the Union
economic and monetary policy (UEMOA) to their customers experienced a slight increase of 0.03
percentage point at the end of June 2019 compared to the previous month, APA learned Thursday from
of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
Data from the BCEAO survey on banking conditions show that excluding
charges and taxes, the average rate calculated at the WAEMU scale fell from 6.99% in May 2019 to 7.02% in
June 2019.
As for the average interest rate on customer deposits, it stood at 4.96% during the period
under review against 4.80% recorded in May 2019, i.e. an increase of 0.16 percentage point.
