During a lively press conference this Tuesday, July 23 in Abidjan, the president of ANACACI, Soro Penatirgué, welcomed the decision of the Ivorian and Ghanaian heads of state to cooperate in order to create added value for their producers. respective.
Côte d'Ivoire (40%) and Ghana (20%) account for 60% of world cocoa production. But their farmers earn only 2% of the world's cocoa economy, which stands at 100 billion dollars a year.
On the first question, Soro Penatirgué urged the authorities to do everything possible to carry out an effective census of cocoa coffee producers and their orchards. An operation that the Cocoa Coffee Council will carry out for an amount of 6 billion FCFA.
This census aims to ensure the sustained growth of the sector through the collection of data and the production of statistics capable of promoting the reorganization of this sector, the spearhead of the Ivorian economy.
