The bill on the forest code adopted by the government on January 30, 2019 was voted on Thursday, June 20 by the deputies in the Ivorian parliament during a committee session.

Defended by the Minister of Water and Forests, Alain-Richard Donwahi, before the deputies who are members of the Committee for Science, Research, Technology and the Environment, this new forestry code presents three (3) major innovations.

These include the new concepts of Agro-Forest, Forest Governance, and Independent Monitoring.

The Minister received the congratulations of the commission for "his brilliant presentation and received encouragement for his determination to recover the destroyed forest cover".

In addition, as a prelude to the presentation of the bill, the Minister of Water and Forests presented the Policy for the Preservation, Rehabilitation and Extension of Forests which led to this new forest code.
