Since the announcement of the first case of the corona virus disease in Côte d'Ivoire on March 11, 2020, donations have multiplied to fight the pandemic.
The latest, the check for 60 million FCFA from the Development and Processional Training Fund, FDFP, to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, this Friday, June 12 in Abidjan. And the delivery of medical and hygienic equipment worth 70 million FCFA to the Ministry of Health.
In total, an envelope of 130 million has been made available to the Ivorian government to help it reduce the risk of contamination and therefore to better fight against coronavirus disease.
However, the FDFP deplores the increase in cases tested positive, observed for a few days and invites companies and populations to respect the safety instructions issued by the government. “The dangerous turn in the evolution of the pandemic in our country is mainly due to insufficient appropriation by many people, especially young people, of health measures”, regrets Ange Léonid Barry-Battesti, Secretary General of the Fund.
In Côte d'Ivoire, the Ministry of Economy and Finance is the entity responsible for centralizing contributions in the context of the fight against covid 19. For Adama Coulibaly, first head of this ministerial department, "beyond the donation, it is the gesture of the FDFP that must be welcomed. A civic act and a contribution to a momentum of national solidarity", he said. Before recalling that only "the strict observance of the rules and measures taken will make it possible to drive the disease out of Côte d'Ivoire".
This Friday, 280 new people tested positive for Covid 19 and 4 deaths were recorded. These figures bring the total toll to 4,684 confirmed cases, 2,263 cured and 45 deaths.
