The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, inaugurated on Thursday, June 13, buildings (administration, classrooms, dormitories, infirmary) rehabilitated and laboratories equipped with the regional school of agriculture of Bingerville (Era-South).

Financed entirely by the European Union to the tune of FCfa 807 million and carried out by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), these renovation works are part of the Support Program for training and to the integration of young people in Côte d'Ivoire (Proforme).

According to the government envoy, this program makes it possible to fight against unemployment and create the conditions for a better future for young people. "By reducing the hardship of agricultural work through the transfer of agricultural technologies with substantial added value, our youth will once again be attracted to the profession of the land", he explained. While expressing the State's gratitude to the partners, the Minister welcomed the restoration of this establishment which was in an advanced state of disrepair.

For the Ambassador of the European Union, Jobst Von Kirchmann, the handover of these rehabilitated buildings and equipped laboratories reflects the commitment of the institution he represents to make vocational training a priority.

Referring to the National Development Program (Pnd), the representative of Onudi, Yssouf Ouattara, notes that the agricultural sector "represents 24% of GDP, constitutes a source of job creation and income for 2/3 of households of the country with a workforce made up of 60% women". As a strategic sector, it is essential, he insisted, that the vocational training system which is the basis of human capital be upgraded to meet the requirements of a competitive economy.

As for the director of the Institute of Agricultural Vocational Training, Berthé Onayan, he, for his part, indicated that in addition to equipment, the Proforme allowed "the strengthening of the capacities of the actors, in particular the teachers and managers of school in Morocco and Tunisia”. In view of the many achievements, Berthé Onayan is committed to ensuring that the investments made are not in vain.
