The controls of tax and customs services, total and partial exemptions and deductions announced last week by the Prime Minister (see related article, editor's note), are suspended for the next three months in several sectors, in order to support them in the framework of the fight against the Coronavirus, we learn from a government source.

According to the director of the minister's cabinet to the Prime Minister, in charge of the Budget and the State Portfolio, Adama Sall, the taxes on profits, the payment of the license, the synthetic tax, the employers' contribution, the taxes lump sums for small traders and craftsmen, taxes on income from receivables and taxes on the tourism and hotel sectors are suspended for three months (April, May and June).

Similarly, checks in terms of general accounting, checks that the tax and customs services carry out on paper, unannounced and ad hoc checks are suspended for three months, both at the level of the tax and customs administration.

Regarding total exemptions, Mr. Sall said that everything that is a bank loan taken out by the health sector and the importation of equipment concerning the health sector (inputs) is exempt over the period of the pandemic.

In addition, the chief of staff announced that with respect to partial exemptions (tax reduction), there will be a reduction of 25% in the level of the license in the transport sector, continues the same source.

Finally, the collaborator of Minister Moussa Sanogo, indicated Tuesday during a press briefing that, for all companies which will have cash flow difficulties or which will have to face expenses related to the Coronavirus, the charges borne on this period, will be deducted from their income tax.
