Strengthened by its performance in the two recent Doing Business publications (2019 and 2020) where it gained 59 places, Togo will maintain the course of reforms over the next five years. Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé places the improvement of the business environment among the priorities of the new 5-year term that he will start on May 5th. The information is reported this Monday, April 20 by republiquetogolaise.com, the official site of the Togolese government, which quotes an interview granted by the tenant of the Palais de la Marina to FDI Intelligence, a specialized service of the famous American economic magazine Financial Times. “Our country is resolutely determined to adopt a series of reforms.
The objective is to make the business environment more attractive, to mobilize more investments and to achieve strong economic growth in the medium term”, declared the Togolese N°1.
With the implementation of the National Development Plan (PND 2018-2022) and a growth rate of 7.6% in its sights, Togo intends to mobilize 2/3 of the necessary resources, i.e. approximately 3,000 billion FCFA from the private sector.
In this interview, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé attributes the country's recent successes in terms of business facilitation and the attraction of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in Togo, to "the political commitment, pragmatism and leadership of the highest authorities of the country ".
The Togolese Head of State also reaffirms his confidence in a dynamic Public-Private Partnership and his government's commitment to supporting the private sector: "We are firmly resolved to make the private sector the key player and the engine of our economy by paying great attention to it and by showing flexibility and agility in the management of our partnerships".
