The outstanding domestic claims of depository institutions in Senegal increased by
410.8 billion FCFA (about 657.280 million dollars) in December 2019 compared to the same period
of the year 2018, according to the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
from CFAF 4,742.80 billion in December 2018 to CFAF 5,153.60 billion a year later, i.e.
an increase of 8.7% in relative value (1 FCFA is equivalent to 0.0016 dollars).
This increase is mainly attributable to net claims on central government, which
recorded an increase of 19%, from 467.8 billion FCFA in December 2018 to 556.9
billion CFA francs in December 2019.
Loans held by depository corporations on other sectors of the economy also contributed to
the increase in the overall outstanding balance of domestic claims, with a realization of 4596.7 billion F
CFA against 4275 billion CFA francs in December 2018 (7.5%).
Compared to November 2019 when it amounted to 5193.8 billion CFA francs, the outstanding debt
deposits of depository institutions fell slightly by 0.8% due to net claims on
administration (-5.7%) and, to a lesser extent, receivables from other sectors (-0.1%).
