Container traffic at the Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL) crossed the 1.5 million TEU mark in 2019, compared to nearly 1.4 million the previous year.

The information was given on Tuesday, January 28 by Fogan Adegnon, the general manager, on the sidelines of the Open Days of the Company responsible for operating the one-stop shop for foreign trade. And to indicate, moreover, that the traffic of goods from the Lomé port platform increased from 22.117 million tonnes to 22.610 million over one year.

Pillar of axis 1 of the National Development Plan (PND) which aims to make Lomé a logistics hub of excellence and a first-class business center in the sub-region, the Togolese port has experienced since 2014, a dynamic news with the commissioning of new infrastructures.

As a reminder, Lomé Container Terminal (LCT), owned equally by Global Terminal Limited and China Merchants Holdings, has invested no less than 324 million euros there to set up a transhipment terminal with a annual capacity of 2.2 million containers, just after the inauguration of a third quay which required 457 million euros from the Bolloré group.
