The initiative seeks to raise awareness of energy issues among citizens. Nigeria is the leading oil producer in Africa. But the sector is a source of several challenges for a large part of the population, especially in terms of environmental impacts. Also, despite its oil and gas production, the rate of access to electricity is only 60%. This citizens' initiative comes at a time when the Nigerian government is trying to remedy its energy deficit by multiplying initiatives and investments, and is aiming to cover the entire country with electricity by 2030.
