To revitalize this sector, which has been heavily impacted by Covid-19, imminent and short-term projects, amounting to a cumulative CFAF 500 billion, are planned.
These include the "Nation Tower" project, which provides for the construction of a five-star hotel with 225 rooms in the Plateau, the project to build three twin towers on the site of theAIP, the project to rehabilitate and extend the Golf Hotel and the project to develop a 1000-room resort on the 148-hectare Dalhia Fleur site.
There is also the project for the tourism development of the Bay of Cocody, the project for the rehabilitation of the State's hotel heritage establishments as part of the CAN 20.There is also the project to rehabilitate the State's hotel heritage establishments in Abidjan and Yamoussoukro as part of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, and the project to rehabilitate and upgrade the RANHOTEL and build a Noom Hotel in Bouaké.
Other projects are planned for the medium term, namely the "KAMA hotels" in the country's secondary cities, the "BIAFRA Smart City" in Treichville, the "Serena Hotels" in Kinshasa and the "KAMA Hotels" in Abidjan. In terms of training quality human resources in the sector, in addition to the University of San-Pedro, which has a tourism course, the Higher School of Tourism and Hospitality of Daoukro will open soon. There are also plans for the Yamoussoukro Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, which will have a sub-regional vocation, and the creation of seven training centers.
The volume of public and private investment in the tourism sector in Côte d'Ivoire between 2014 and 2021 amounts to 817 billion CFA francs, and 132,000 jobs have been created by the end of 2020 compared to 113,000 in 2016. Ultimately, the government aims to increase the number of international tourists to 5 million by 2025 compared to 2.07 million in 2019.
