The African Development Bank (AfDB) has allocated USD 88.2 million to Liberia and Sierra Leone. This support will be used to finance projects that prioritize road infrastructure and watercourse crossings.

Sierra Leone and Liberia benefit from financing of $88.2 million from the African Development Bank for road infrastructure projects. The sum approved during the March 22 Board meeting is made up of a grant from the African Development Fund, up to $35.1 million for Sierra Leone and $8.9 million for Liberia. . It is supplemented by a loan of $44.2 million allocated to Liberia.

The funding will be used for the upgrading of 50 km of roadway in Liberia and 25 km in Sierra Leone, feasibility studies for the construction of 170 km of roads in the two countries. The funds will also cover the construction of a 276 meter bridge over the Makona River between Guinea and Sierra Leone, as well as the development of socio-economic infrastructure.
