The first Summit on Cybersecurity in Africa was launched on Wednesday March 23, 2022 by the Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. On occasion, the Lomé declaration calls for a “healthy and prosperous cyber space”.

The opening ceremony of the Summit on Cybersecurity in Africa ended with the Lomé declaration which constitutes a commitment by all for "a healthy and prosperous cyber space". This summit is organized by the Togolese government, in partnership with the ECA, which honored the opening of the work by the presence of its executive secretary, Ms. Vera Songwe.

Indeed, given that threats to cyberspace have no geographical barrier, it is essential to develop a synergy of actions taking into account strong international cooperation around activities to combat this scourge. The Lomé Cybersecurity Summit thus finds all its quintessence in this approach aimed at initiating a high-level dialogue, with a view to formulating avenues for cooperation and coordination, to respond to the pressing challenges with which all African actors are confronted in terms of of cybersecurity. The goal is to create a secure economy, by collaboratively addressing the fight against threats to cyberspace.
