The WAEMU regional financial market adopts a governance code for companies listed on the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM). This tool was launched on Tuesday March 15, 2022 in Abidjan.

The Governance Code for Companies listed on the BRVM is the result of collaboration between the BRVM and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The adoption of this Code is an important step in the process of maturation of the WAEMU Regional Financial Market which, at the same time, appropriates the standards conducive to the sustainable development of companies.

This Code of Governance includes eleven (11) founding principles including shareholder information in a relevant and understandable manner; the free exercise of shareholder rights, particularly during General Meetings; relations between the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer based on trust; the establishment of a complete, honest, available and sufficiently independent Board of Directors which ensures its diversity; to quote only those.
