The Novotel Orisha Hotel in Cotonou hosted a meeting last Friday between a delegation from the African Network Information Center (AFRINIC), led by Eddy Kayihura, Director General of the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for Africa, and the Ministry of and Digitalization, as well as AFRINIC member organizations in Benin.

In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the issue of digital transformation is one of Africa's major strategic imperatives. The objective of the meeting was to ensure the stability and sustainability of the Internet in Africa in order to support the digital transformation of the continent. The availability and securing of public IP addresses, the transfer of knowledge as well as the establishment of the necessary synergy between AFRINIC and the member organizations of the RIR were at the heart of the discussions between the stakeholders.

The challenge is to work together, through the maintenance of safe access to the Internet, towards the creation of the conditions required for growth and socio-economic development in Africa, and mainly in Benin. During this meeting, AFRINIC delegates and member organizations had the opportunity to discuss and assess the levers for the acceleration, adoption, and growth of the Internet in Benin.
