Faced with the aggression of the Russian army in Ukraine, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank are mobilizing to release emergency funds.

The World Bank is thus preparing emergency aid of 3 billion dollars for the country. This envelope will be followed by another of 200 million dollars intended for the health and education sectors. The Bank added that this aid envelope “will include the mobilization of financing from several development partners”.

For its part, the IMF will respond to Ukraine's request for emergency financing through its rapid financing instrument. The support obtained can cover a wide range of urgent needs linked to sudden increases in commodity prices, natural disasters, conflicts and post-conflict situations.
