Scheduled to close on March 4, 2022, Benin's first 20-year bond issue received massive investor support. It was closed early on February 22, 2022.

As part of the financing of investment projects included in the general state budget, management 2022, Benin launched, on February 14, 2022, a simultaneous bond issue operation on the regional financial market of West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) for an indicative amount of one hundred and fifty billion CFA.

This simultaneous operation is subdivided into two tranches, including a tranche with a maturity of 15 years for an amount of sixty billion (60,000,000,000) CFA francs and a tranche with a maturity of 20 years for an amount of ninety - ten billion (90 000,000,000) CFA francs.

Benin thus achieves a double feat on the regional financial market, by outperforming the current longest maturity on the market via a 20-year issue, and by issuing at a rate of return lower than the current lowest rate on the market for the maturity of 15 years.
