As part of the celebration of the ^60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Benin, the Russian Ambassador to Benin and Togo, Igor Evdokimov spoke with media professionals on Wednesday February 9, 2022 in Cotonou. On the occasion, he reviewed the various actions implemented within the framework of Russian-Beninese cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Benin and Russia, established in 1962, two years after the independence of the people of Benin, will reach 60 years, on June 4, 2022. Announcing the celebration, Ambassador Igor Evdokimov indicates that the cooperation between the two countries is constantly developing both bilaterally and in international organisations.

Russia, a member of the Soviet Union, has become a key partner of Benin and the actions multiplied every year speak volumes. The latest is the delivery, on January 24, 2022, to the Republic of Benin of a batch of 100,000 doses of “Sputnik Lite” vaccine in the form of humanitarian aid. Also, on January 14 and 15, the Fourth Russian Film Festival was held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Cotonou. On the counter, major challenges are on the horizon and strategies are underway to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Benin and Russia.
