The National Council of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Burkina Faso issued a statement this week to give its opinion on the situation between ECOWAS and Mali. In this document, the Council condemns the illegitimate and inhuman sanctions taken against the brotherly people of Mali, and demands their lifting.

According to the National Council of Civil Society Organizations of Burkina Faso, the reasons put forward for taking sanctions against Mali would hide France's opposition to the presence of the Russian State in this country and with the sole objective of support France in the perpetuation of colonization in Africa. Thus, the Council unreservedly condemns these sanctions, with regard to their illegitimate and inhuman nature. The Council demands from the ECOWAS Heads of State the lifting of these sanctions which have been rejected by the peoples of all the countries that make up ECOWAS and to support the transition process in Mali through consultation, dialogue, while taking into account the deep aspirations of the Malian people.
