Data from the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD) reveal that at the end of the third quarter of 2021, Senegal's real Gross Domestic Product (GDP), adjusted for seasonal variations (CVS), rose 2.6% from the previous quarter.

The ANSD points out in its Note on recent economic developments (NEER) that this result is the result of the increase in added value in the primary (+3.3%), secondary (+2.7%) and tertiary (+ 2.6%). In addition, taxes net of subsidies on products increased by 1.5%. Compared to the second quarter of 2021, the real value added of the primary sector rose by 3.3%, attributable to the performance of the sub-sectors of agriculture (+4.4%), livestock (+3 .3%) and forestry (+0.2%).

The ANSD notes, however, that the fishing sector recorded a decline of 7.7% explained by the drop in landings of artisanal fishing by 47.5% linked to the scarcity of fishery resources. With regard to the tertiary sector, the ANSD argues that the value added of the sector, in CVS volume, grew by 2.6% in the third quarter of 2021. This result is related to the performance of information services. and communication (+11.9%), public administration, education and health (+2.5%), real estate activities (+1.7%), business services (+1.3 %), transport (+1.2%) and, to a lesser extent, trade (+0.2%).
