At the level of the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM), the main activity indicators of the
market maintained their downward trend, which began in April 2019, informs the Monthly Note of
economic situation August 2019 from the Central Bank of West African States ( Bceao ).
After the strong recovery observed in March 2019, following the optimism of investors linked to the publication
encouraging results for 2018 and the implementation of a new dedicated compartment
to small and medium-sized enterprises, the stock market continues to be affected by concerns
relative to the results of companies exposed to security risks and slowdown in the
world trade (enterprise in the agricultural, banking and transport sectors).
The BRVM 10 index and the composite index fell again by 0.5% and 0.7% respectively,
standing at 149.9 points and 155.0 points in August 2019.
Year-on-year, the BRVM composite and BRVM 10 indices fell by 25.4% and
23.4%, in line in particular with the poor performance of companies in the "agriculture", "
industry”, “finance” and “transport”.
