The National Statistics and Demography Agency (Ansd) has analyzed growth in Uemoa. She informs that in WAEMU, the growth rate remained positive.

According to Ansd, GDP recorded an increase of 1.8% in 2020 against 5.7% in 2019. The deceleration in growth is linked in particular to a drop in activity in the branches of manufacturing industries, tourism and transport in relation to the restrictive measures taken by the Member States to limit the spread of the virus in the Union. In the ECOWAS space, adds Ansd, the health crisis has also had a negative impact on economies with growth of -1.1% in 2020, after +3.1% in 2019. The agency also informs that in sub-Saharan Africa, the GDP growth rate is estimated at -1.7% in 2020 after +3.2% in 2019.
