Foreign exchange reserves, excluding gold, reached 44.724 billion dollars at the end of September 2021, according to the governor of the Bank of Algeria (BA), Rostom Fadhli who specifies that this performance was propelled by the rise in oil prices.

During the first nine months of 2021, the average price of oil recorded a rise of 66.6%, rising from 41.365 dollars/barrel, during the same period of the past year, to 68.917 dollars/barrel. At the same time, the quantities of hydrocarbons exported, expressed in Tons of Oil Equivalent (TOE), increased by 20.9%. During a meeting between the Bank of Algeria and banks and financial institutions, the Governor of the Bank of Algeria announced that the trade balance deficit fell from 10.504 billion dollars at the end of September 2020, to 1.571 billion. dollars at the end of September 2021.

The Governor of the BA notably highlighted the sharp increase in the total value of hydrocarbon exports, estimated at 57.3%, rising from 14.868 billion dollars at the end of September 2020 to 23.387 billion at the end of September 2021. , exports of non-hydrocarbon goods recorded an increase, reaching 3.015 billion dollars during the period under review against 1.372 billion dollars at the end of September 2020 (+120%).
