The central structures of the UEMOA regional financial market, the Regional Stock Exchange (Brvm) and the Central Depository/Bank of Settlement (Dc/Br), celebrated their 25th anniversary on December 18, 2021 in Cotonou (Benin), their city of creation.

The celebrations of this 25th anniversary were marked by two highlights, a scientific day and a gala evening. The scientific day held on Saturday morning was an opportunity for discussion around two panels. First, the presidential panel on the theme: “The challenges of financing African economies. was moderated by Abdoulaye Bio-Tchane, Minister of State, in charge of Development and Coordination of Government Action in Benin in his capacity as representative of the President of the Republic of Benin. During this Presidential panel, the Minister of State Bio-Tchane returned to the vision which led to the creation of the regional financial market of UEMOA and to the challenges which the first pioneers were confronted with.

The second panel was moderated by Paul Koffi Koffi, Commissioner in charge of the Department of Business Development, Mines, Energy and the Digital Economy of the WAEMU Commission; Serge Ekué, Chairman of Boad; Badanam Patoki, Chairman of Crepmf and Parfait Kouassi, Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Brvm and DC/Br. In particular, they discussed the issue of the integration of WAEMU economies through better circulation of goods and services; major market development reforms; the resilience of the economies of Uemoa, the revival of these post-covid economies, and finally on the contribution of the Community Institutions to the actions of the Brvm and the DC/Br with a view to improving the financing of the economies of the Union.
