The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) and the Central Depository / Settlement Bank (DC / BR), celebrate the 25th anniversary of their creation this Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Cotonou (Benin), their city of creation.

The Central Structures of the Regional Financial Market of WAEMU, after 25 years of existence, have passed several major operational milestones, in particular the start of Decentralized Electronic Quotation (1999), the transition to Daily Quotation (2001); the change in Settlement/Delivery deadlines from T+5 to T+3 (2007); the transition from Listing to Fixing to Continuous Listing (2013) and now to the Online Stock Exchange (2020).

Today, the BRVM is included in the MSCI and S&P Dow Jones indices and has an index (Standalone) dedicated to the Regional Financial Market created by the financial services company Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). On May 27, 2021, the BRVM joined the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) as a full member. With 46 listed companies and 95 bond lines, the BRVM and the DC/BR contribute to improving the long-term financing of the economies of the WAEMU countries.

The celebration will be marked by two panels: a presidential panel with Patrice TALON, President of the Republic of Benin, who will give his vision on “The challenges of financing African economies”. A high-level panel with Sani YAYA, President of the UEMOA Council of Ministers; Romuald WADAGNI, Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance of Benin; Abdoulaye DIOP, President of the WAEMU Commission; Serge EKUE, President of BOAD; Badanam PATOKI, Chairman of CREPMF and Parfait KOUASSI, Chairman of the Boards of Directors of BRVM and DC/BR. This panel will focus on the theme: “Assessment of the evolution of the WAEMU Regional Financial Market and expectations for better long-term financing of the economies of the Union”.
