The ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ARCC) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade jointly organized this Monday, November 15, 2021 at Benin Royal Hotel, an advocacy and awareness-raising workshop for national competition stakeholders. The objective is to highlight a new dynamic in the theme of competitive exchange.

The aim of the workshop was to inform Togolese stakeholders of the existence of the ARCC, to sensitize the Government on the need to internalize the ECOWAS Supplementary Acts on competition and to prepare the minds of the actors on the next interventions of the ARCC. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Siméon Koffi, Executive Director of the ARCC expressed his deep gratitude to the Ministry for its commitment to the success of this meeting. Recalling the objectives of the workshop which aims at the appropriation of Community competition rules by all stakeholders, Dr. Siméon Koffi called for the creation of a synergy of action between the ARCC and the National Commissions of Competition with a view to setting up a mechanism for sharing information, training and capacity building.

The Resident Representative of ECOWAS to the Republic of Benin, Blaise Diplo Djomand, in turn, indicated that the regional framework for community competition is very important, particularly in view of the implementation of the Free Trade Area. continental (ZLECAF). Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Micaël Bassabi Djara recalled the importance of competition, which is today a key tool in any economic development policy in the era of trade globalization.
