Lomé obtains a loan of 120 million dollars from the World Bank (WB). This is a financing agreement for the Lomé-Ouaga-Niamey regional economic corridor project in the amount of US$120 million.

The financing agreement documents for the Lomé-Ouaga-Niamey regional economic corridor project were signed by the Togolese Minister of Economy and Finance, Sani Yaya and the Director of Operations for Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, and Guinea, Coralie Gevers in the presence of President Faure Gnassingbé. According to the Togolese presidency, the project is part of the World Bank's new regional strategy for Africa, which intends to support the priority corridors of ECOWAS and UEMOA in order to improve transport conditions, develop economic opportunities, remove obstacles to trade and facilitate the regional integration of landlocked countries in West Africa. Present at the signing ceremony, Ousmane Diagana, Vice-President of the World Bank for West and Central Africa of the World Bank hailed the "sub-regional" dimension of the project "which demonstrates Togo's solidarity with the hinterland countries.
