As part of the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC) dismisses the PCA of Banque Atlantique Cameroun (BACM) and inflicts a reprimand on the CEO.

Cobac published a note on October 5, 2021 to announce serious sanctions against the top management of Banque Atlantique Cameroun, a subsidiary of the Atlantic Financial Group (AFG) holding company. Thus, for serious breaches of the texts relating to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism (ML/FT), the Banking Commission automatically dismissed the members of the Board of Directors: Léon Koffi Konan (Chairman of the directors), Paul Mesmin Ntonga, Kone Dossongui, Daniel Toure, Soungalo Traoré, Albert Kouinche [promoter of Express Union microfinance], Georges Wilson, Jean Victor Ngue, Ouambo”.

It also inflicted, for "serious breaches of regulations relating to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism as well as foreign exchange regulations", a reprimand to Eric Valéry Zoa director general of the BACM and Sayouba Ouedraogo director deputy general. Cobac does not give details of the acts of the sanctioned officials.
