The outstanding public debt in the member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) is estimated at 2056 billion FCFA, at the end of June 2021.

Treasury bonds representing 89.8% of the overall outstanding amount, compared to 10.2% for Treasury bonds of all eight countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) on the regional securities market public, stood at 2,056 billion FCFA, at the end of June 2021, against 2,746.1 billion FCFA in 2020. Senegal stood at 35%, or 719 billion FCFA, followed by Burkina Faso with 13.7%, or 281,672 billion FCFA, Mali for 12.28%, or 252.4768 billion FCFA and Senegal for 10.86%, or 223.2816 billion FCFA. Behind these countries follow respectively the shares of Benin for 10.55%, or 216.908 billion FCFA, of Togo for 9.6%, or 197.376 billion, of Niger for 139.808 and finally of Guinea-Bissau for 1.2%. i.e. 24.672 billion FCFA. Borrowings by UEMOA member states on the regional public securities market showed an overall outstanding amount of CFAF 16,037.6 billion at the end of June 2021, compared to CFAF 13,629.6 billion at the end of June. same period in 2020.
