Meeting on September 23, 2021 by videoconference, the Ministers of Finance of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) ruled on the repression of stock market violations. Thus, the dice are cast for the establishment of a uniform legislative framework.

The sub-regional organization intends to reform the regulatory framework of its financial market. The Council of Finance Ministers of WAEMU member states have decided to provide the area with a uniform legislative framework on stock market offences. As such, a bill was examined during the statutory meeting. The work of the 3rd ordinary session for the year 2021, carried out by videoconference under the chairmanship of the Togolese Sani Yaya, aims to ensure "a more effective application of the rules of the financial market by creating a community framework for the repression of offenses criminal charges likely to be committed there", according to the Togolese Minister of Economy and Finance. “The main effects expected from these modifications are the alignment of the operating conditions of Undertakings for Collective Investment with international standards, the strengthening of the readability of regulatory provisions and the broadening of the investor base with the promotion of instruments such as than employee savings," explained Sani Yaya.

On the menu of exchanges, several files concern the WAEMU Commission and the CREPMF. Under the WAEMU Commission, the draft Decision appointing the members of the Regional Commission for the Training of Accountants and Financial Experts (CREFECF), as well as that relating to the appointment of the President and Vice-President of the said Committee. For the CREPMF, 3 files calling for Decision, 2 for opinion and 7 for information will be examined. Also, in terms of innovation, the issuance of green and sustainable bonds should soon be possible on the Umoa public securities market.
