In Nigeria, the energy deficit and optimal solid waste management are two significant challenges at the national level. Capegate Investment will produce 150 MW of electricity in five years for Kano.

Capegate Investment decided to bring a beginning of solution to Nigeria by producing electricity from plastic waste. The waste management company in Kano, announced on Wednesday that it plans to produce 150 MW of electricity from waste in five years for the state. Three months ago, the company signed a 20-year public-private partnership with the Kano government and took over waste management in the state. The company's goal is to produce 10 MW of electricity from Kano's waste by the end of next year. Over the next few years, Capegate Investment hopes to be able to produce 30 MW, depending on the evolution of the waste typology. The waste management company's ambition is to eventually employ more than 5,000 people.
