The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) still perfuses the interbank sector of the WAMU. For the sake of economic recovery, in relation to the health crisis, the financial institution has just injected for its latest operation, a total of 4,764 billion FCFA, an increase of 43.3%.

In addition to the first weekly liquidity injection window, the BCEAO is opening a monthly window and a special window for the refinancing of stimulus bonds (ODR) for the respective amounts of 3,138 billion, 1,621 billion and 5.2 billion. The Central Bank in collaboration with the Umoa-Titres Agency refinances the economies of the eight countries of the West African Economic Monetary Union (UEMOA). This, by carrying out operations of weekly injection of liquidities on the interbank market in the respect of the requirements of refinancing of the economies and whose adjudication at the interest rate is fixed at 2%. These prudential measures by the Bceao aim to mitigate the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the banking system and the financing of economic activity in the Union.
