The Association of African Stock Exchanges (ASEA) and the IT company DirectFN signed a contract in Abidjan for the interconnection of African stock exchanges to acquire a technological platform for listing called "AELP", aimed at interconnecting stock exchanges in Africa.

The African Stock Exchange Interconnection Project (AELP) was initiated by ASEA, chaired by Dr Edoh Kossi Amenounve, also Managing Director of Brvm, with the African Development Bank (AfDB). It aims in particular to stimulate pan-African investment flows, promote innovations that support diversification for investors and address the issue of market depth and liquidity. Dr Edoh Kossi Amenounve, the president of the Association of African Stock Exchanges (ASEA), signed this contract with Dr Walid Alballaa, the managing director of DirectFN.

The joint project of the Association of African Scholarships and the AfDB is funded through a grant from the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Trust Fund managed by the African Development Bank. Mr. Amenounve explained that, in the app, investor orders on a market will be routed by a domestic broker through the AELP technology platform to a broker in the foreign market where the security is listed for execution on that market.

Listed securities accessible via the AELP link include all securities available to cross-border investors. Additionally, the equity investments available include Africa's most promising and profitable companies as well as some of the world's leaders from over 1,050 listed companies. ASEA has 26 exchanges, but seven exchanges are members of the AELP project: the Casablanca Stock Exchange, the Egyptian Stock Exchange, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Nairobi Securities Exchange, the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the Mauritius Stock Exchange and the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM).
