WAMU financial market: Côte d'Ivoire raises 33 billion FCFA

Once again on the financial market of the West African Monetary Union (WAMU), the State of Côte d'Ivoire, through its General Directorate of Treasury and Public Accounting, raised on July 6, 2021 an amount of 33 billion FCFA. It was at the end of its issue by auction of assimilable treasury bills (BAT) with a maturity of 91 days.

Of the amount of the bids, the issuer withheld 33 billion FCFA and rejected the remaining 10 billion FCFA, ie an absorption rate of 76.74%. The overall amount put up for auction is 30 billion FCFA, but the Ivorian public treasury ended up with 43 billion FCFA in overall bids made by investors, ie a coverage rate of the amount put up for auction of 143.33%. The resources retained are intended to cover the financing needs of the State budget of Côte d'Ivoire. Reimbursement of the warrants issued will take place on the first working day following the due date set at October 5, 2021. On the other hand, interest is payable in advance and deducted from the nominal value of the warrants, which is one million FCFA. The weighted average return was 2.54%. On the other hand, the weighted average rate and the marginal rate are respectively 2.52% and 2.55%.
